Twenty 20

in

Well one of the good thing about being at NMIMS was this moment. What better to watch India-Pakistan twenty 20 match on projector screen with friends cheering team india. And well the match lived up to its expectation of having all ingredients of a typical roller coaster ride with match swinging from one team to another.

What more it reached a tie-breaker that India won eventually. One of the first on its kinds for Twenty 20 records. And I am glad India won that one.

Exams on head, and as usual loads of assignments to submit at the last moment. What more teachers have gone crazy here trying to take classes in between exam time. Well my batchmates have gone a step furthur, they have actuallly decided to go and meet parents in between their exams.Cool isnt it.

Dravid has stepped down from India's captaincy which i think is a good thing both for Indian cricket team and Dravid too. I just wish Sourav takes over again and leads India to more victories down under. He has been a great inspiration for his teammates.

I just wish for a nice farewell for two of the all time greats Sachin and Sourav.

Summer training

in

Well got selected in Bharti-axalife for summer training. Now enjoying the 2 months before the rigor of final year of MBA starts again.Nothing new for me since i have already worked before, but it must be a nice learning experience for freshers to be at office.

We had a nice HR-fun filled friday celebration once..it was nice to play some musical chair in office corridor.Have submitted my choices for major and minor specialization just now.I hope i have made the right decision.Doesn't matter anyways since i am just a tool in the hands of lord,he will do the best for me :P.Nice way to disown your own decisions huh :)

Phew:Placements

in

Well a long pending post i must say.Placements was one thing i wanted to write about, and now that even seniors have left the college..i guess its time.Anyways i wont write much about salary mean median and all that stuff..for that refer www.nmims.edu smart huh :P.Well wanted to avoid any controversy you see.

Placement is a big circus, and within this chaos there is amazing co-ordination.The IT team, food and beverage committee, you name it and you have a committee for it..Right from the Parking committee to company co-ordinators everything planned to perfection..so that none of the seniors miss out on their interviews. Hats off to the volunteers for their splendid work that they have done right from 5 am in morning to 12pm at night :) and coming back again the nest day early morning :).Lets hope we have an equally enthusiastic junior batch that will co-ordinate our placements next year.

Well for seniors it has been a tuff ride. Not getting shortlisted in your dream companies, your friends getting placed before you while you keep getting rejected in interviews. It needs a tuff chap to withstand all the emotional turmoil and stay cool. Too much rigor you see :P. While managing the placements handling seniors was another tough task, cant blame them for there occassional scoldings, i understand that it was all because of the tension...One could actually see the tension while the last few seniors were getting placed.Seniors breaking down and their friends trying to pep up their mood for the next interview.

I must thank the seniors too who on day 2 came to help out the junior volunteers, that really made the task easy.Wish all the seniors best of luck for future.

NMIMS flavour

in

well friends all this while i have been talking about b-schools in general, let me give you the NMIMS flavor.

Well Bumps was one thing i have already discussed, but having exams exactly during the holiday week from christmas to new year this was a first of its kind experience.I have never ever in my entire academic career given exams on a new years eve.

All friends have now taken a leave of a week and gone to stay with their family for a while.I am staying back because there is one important job of handling the placements of our seniors.I will write more about that in the coming posts.

Tomorrow i am going to do some go-karting..should be fun

chalo then

exams in b-schools

in

well for most part of mba first year stint (by now its already third trimester..you dont realise when exams start and when they get over)...the entire strategy depends on doing better than what others are doing. Its a tuff thing to do,when you are making a presentation yu want yur group members to score less than you , so that you get better grades. You just wish that somebody fails so that everyone gets a better CGPA

This relative grading is kind of wierd but thats how life is at B-school.In order to create competition amongst students,...people actually stop trusting. You can't even trust friends here,if you dont then they are not friends anyways right, thats the biggest disadvantage i must say.People can to any length to make sure one doesn't get ahead of the other, people are ready to pull down others for their own personal gain.

But thats life and since we are the future managers we need to live with it,thats how competition is in the corporate world right
